Sewing-related (and non-sewing related) UPDATES
Friends, it's hard to believe our MPB Winter Frolic was only nine days ago--New York City already feels like a very different place.

Experimenting with Pattern Mixing and Hand-loomed Fabrics
There aren't that many perks to being a longtime sewing blogger, but occasionally I'm given the opportunity to sample special fabrics in exchange for sewing something with them.

MPB Day WINTER FROLIC -- THE AWARD WINNERS!
Readers, yesterday we frolicked, we frolicked, oh, how we frolicked!
Summer MPB Days are great fun, of course, but there's something about a winter get-together that's cozier. Especially since not every Garment District fabric store has air-conditioning but they all have heat!

Culling My Fabric Stash for National Sewing Month!
Readers, you probably have heard that September is National Sewing Month.

New Month, New Fabric, New Projects!

No, you're not seeing double.
Michael and I wore our matching shirts to a workshop this weekend and this happened: pure serendipity. These are our friends Ralf and Arne from Germany and we were excited to coordinate so well with them, especially since the workshop was all about creativity.

Wouldn't You Have Bought This Fabric Too?

Readers, I was fabric shopping earlier in the week with an old friend -- more about her in a bit -- when I saw this sign at Fabrics For Less on 39th St. (now combined with Chic Fabrics). Behind it was a cute vintage tractor-print -- quilting cotton really -- for just $1.99 a yard. It took a few days for me to make up my mind, but I was back there this morning and grabbed, alas, the last four yards.
