If I learned anything this week unrelated to indy pattern testing, it's that a good hat is hard to make.

A Drop in the Bucket (not a joke)
Readers, even I am tired of seeing close-ups of myself in this hat so I can imagine how you must feel.
But I must update you on my latest hat tweak.

A Drop in the Bucket...Hat

Friends, after the excitement of yesterday's musical comedy vlog extravaganza, anything that followed was bound to be an anticlimax.

Believe it or not, friends, I used to own the same identical sofa pictured above, picked up at a thrift store nearly 15 years ago for a song.

Tweed Coat Selfies + New Hat!

Readers, is it still called a selfie if you balance your camera on a flat surface and switch it to auto mode, or do you have to be holding it in your hand and standing in front of a bathroom mirror?

Adorin' Lauren + flea market vintage hat SCORE!

Readers, many of you may know that sewing blogger Lauren Taylor (aka Lladybird) of Nashville is here in New York City this weekend and I am one of the lucky many who got to meet her. Actually, today was our fourth date. We'll find out what happens next at tonight's rose ceremony (hope you get the reference).

Hats Entertainment!
The
Seriously, I do think hats are great. Not only do they keep your head warm in winter and cool in summer, they can give an ordinary face a little something extra and they can certainly pull together an outfit. I have never made a hat myself (a few makeshift turbans notwithstanding) but I've come close. Remember when I planned to make myself a bucket hat? For various reasons, that never happened.

Fabulous, Feathery, Flea Market Finds!
OK, so I made an impulse purchase. Like you've never done that?
Maybe it's the heat (blistering), maybe the humidity (wilting), or maybe I just like sky blue feathers (fun!). This feathered stretch cap -- vintage 60's I believe and made in the former Yugoslavia -- is perfect for those mornings when you need to run to the Piggly Wiggly in your curlers. Or if you're just having a bad hair day.
