Modeling My Madras at Mood!

Readers, the photo shoot of my new madras and linen togs is finished!

To see it live over at the Mood Sewing Network, click here.  I do hope you like them.

Re the photo shoot, Michael was feeling under the weather yesterday, so I had to take all the shots myself.  Even in a city like New York, this turns heads (and feels mildly embarrassing).  Do you ever take your own outdoor photos?

Have a great day, everybody!

  1. It IS hard to take your own outdoor photos without embarrassment! Lately I've tried asking tourist couples to take my photo - in exchange for which I then take theirs together, so that not all their travel photos show them one at a time. I've tried it twice and it's worked well, with the bonus of lots of gratitude from the tourists :)

Heading over to the Mood site now...

    1. Great idea, Gabrielle, only I require HUNDREDS of photos and that's a lot to ask of anonymous tourists! ;)

  2. LOVE your outfits-- seriously killer! I never take my own photos outside, mainly because I have an irrational fear of someone swiping the camera and tripod while I'm still vamping for the camera.

    1. Haha I have the same fear, and thought maybe I was a bit weird... But I desperately need a tripod so that I don't depend on someone else for taking pics... Really need to work on that!

    2. My tripod came free with some camera I bought years ago -- it's a POS but it works! The camera isn't big, new, or flashy, so I don't think it would attract a lot of attention. Still, you never know....

  4. Peter,

The garments came out stunning! I muss say I was surprised how nice the Madras total look works!

  5. These pics are great for being a one-man show. Do you use a timer or a remote shutter?

    1. A timer. It blinks a flashing light (which you can see from a great distance) and then takes up to 10 pics at a time -- very handy! Canon S90 a few years old.

  7. Great job Peter! Coney Island-pfft! You're ready for a day out at the Cape (or a Halston shoot!) Seriously, thank you for sharing with us, your projects ALWAYS spur me on to better my own meager sewing skills-hugs!

  9. You mentioned awhile back that you didn't have clothing that went together. Now you do. A wonderful wardrobe in the making Peter! I love all of the pieces and the shirt is wonderful with your white linen pants. Enjoy the summer

  10. I really disliked taking pictures outside when I was still in NY for that reason. I attracted way too much attention even with my boyfriend taking them so I never had the courage to take the tripod outside! I love that I have a balcony now and that I can spend hours making a fool of myself PRIVATELY ! I love the shirt!

  13. You look ready for summer.

I do take pictures of myself outside but I live out on the backwoods so I have my own nice, private locations for self photography. My pictures never look as good as yours though. I always end up having some kind of goofy expression on my face.
