Cathy models the 1948 rose dress!

A warm spring day and a lovely model in a rose-print dress -- what a magical combination!

Cathy was positively aglow yesterday in her 1948 ensemble -- so much so that she is seriously considering tossing all her skinny jeans and tank tops.  She's begun talking girdles and garters, folks!

Here is the result of our photoshoot and I hope you enjoy it.  Not only is there more modeling than ever before, but one of Cathy's rivals makes an appearance as well!  You have to see it.

As always, to see these photos full-size, please click on any image and then, in Picasa, choose "View All" in the upper left hand corner, and "Slideshow."

Enjoy, Cathy fans, and don't forget to stop and smell the roses!

P.S. - You can watch the rose dress slowly start to flower here.

  1. I'm so glad to see Cathy modelling the lovely floral creation. Manhattan in the spring is wonderful and Cathy is the prettiest bloom in the garden.

    Cathy Rules! Svetlana *who*?

  7. Oh Peter! I spilled my coffee when the "and exclusive boutiques" (H&M!!) slide came along, I love your sense of humor.

  8. I absolutely love your blog and Cathy's fashion shows! I just started sewing myself and I love the fact that you are new to sewing and you have mastered the collar, cuffs, and button holes of a shirt! I just finished my first shirt - the collar is crooked, the hem is uneven, and I can't figure out how to make a button hole with my machine!

But I'm so proud of my shirt! I can wear it with a tank top underneath and no one can see the flaws...

    Baby steps!

  13. Can you believe women used to be that nicely put together every day! Umm, ripped jeans or Cathy's ensemble. Cathy wins!!

  14. That Cathy! Definitely an A lister. Svetlana, not so much.
    Stunning ensemble, gloves and all.
Keep up the good work, you're an inspiration to us all.

  15. Best photoshoot yet in my opinion. And kudos to Cathy for keeping her cool. That situation could have ended in a mean catfight, but Cathy came out on top.

  16. Excellent job on the dress, Peter. That fabric belt really looked great! And, of course, tell Cathy (and the photographer) that they did a stellar job as well. Bravo!

  17. I love the way Cathy triumphed over her arch rival, what a star!

I have printed a copy of Cathy modelling over and above Svetlana as a memo to self to not take self so seriously (I hope you don't mind) - I laughed hard when I saw it, thank you for your great humour!

  18. She's no Queen of Sheba, but I love Cathy's sunny, funny face!!!

    Beautiful dress!

  20. I really loved this, Peter! Cathy looks spectacular again! Thanks so much all these slide shows. I know they must take work to put together. And a thank you to Cathy's photographer too.

I had my doubts about the rose print, Probably your own fault for the coffin lining remark. But it turned out beautiful. I like the neckline so much I'm searching for something similar.

  21. My favourite yet, and Cathy sets a high standard! Svetlana is so desperately dull in comparison, pff...

  23. My mother and I had a great time reading this new chapter of Cathy.

  24. Cathy, you look fantastic. Forget that Svetlana, she doesn't have anything close to your sense of style.

  25. Svetlana? A dime a dozen. Cathy, in roses? Priceless!

Peter, where did you find the photo captioned "Modeling is competitive, however"? (It's named fashion model 2. jpf) Must.Make.That.Dress.(Coat?)

  26. What fun to start my day by viewing this slide show!:) The dress looks great and Cathy obviously had a wonderful time modeling it. Kudos to you and Cathy, and your talented photographer, for the fantastic presentation. Sorry, Svetlana!

    >sniff< Does anyone have a tissue?

  29. What an elegantly dressed lady that Cathy is!!! The streets of NYC must have been buzzing with excitement during your wonderful fashion shoot. Peter, the dress is beautiful - I want one just like that.

  32. Love, love, LOVE Cathy's new dress! (And "Song of Bernadette Peters"…priceless!) The rose dress pairs so nicely with Cathy's sassy attitude. Svetlana who? The slideshow was so FUN! What a great way to start a Friday.

Can't wait to see what new adventures Cathy will have. Her fans await with baited breath!

  33. You and Cathy have way too much time on your hands! But she is looking very vivacious in her rose dress.

  35. I just don't believe Cathy is the sort of lady to eat at McD's. How does she keep her figure??

    ReplyDelete
  36. That was EXCELLENT!! You somehow managed to top yourself! My favorite part, the model-off with Svetlana! How dare she steal Cathy's job?!?! The outrage. McDonald's is really the only cure. Or possibly Wendy's....

  37. Cathy should have demanded a walk-off, no one can strut better than vintage gal. She probably thinks McCalls in a whiskey company. :p

Cathy looks great and the dress looks great with the new belt!

  38. Thanks, everybody!

It's true, Anonymous, Cathy isn't as full-figured as she might be. Ever since she did the Master Cleanse she's lost some of her curves.

Noile: for more info on that fashion photo, check out http://images.google.com/hosted/life. It's the Life Magazine photo archive. Do a search under "167 fashion" and you'll see more pics of that dress.

  40. I laughed out loud too. The hide...indeed.

  41. Thanks, Peter -- got the shots from the Life archives. (What's with the lack of dates??? Time couldn't afford to add them???) I see it is a coat . . . and sometime soon, it's going to be MINE!
