Friends, they say, in Hollywood, you always want to finish ahead of schedule and under budget.
That's why I am so excited to announce that Cathy's latest photo shoot is done, one day early! Who knew Cathy would be enjoying a glamorous Friday night out at the theater, as Michael had an extra ticket and I wasn't feeling up to going out?
I'm so happy that Cathy was willing and able to model not only the glitzy black pantsuit, but also the pink beaver coat that had its final over-sized snap ($2.50 each at Pacific Trim) sewn on only hours before.
I hope you'll enjoy Cathy's latest adventure and won't find the product placement too heavy-handed. Rest assured I received no compensation from the kind folks at Revlon. If only.
With no further delay, our photo shoot.
As always, to see these photos full-size, please click on any image and in Picasa, choose the album name, and then, in the upper left hand corner, "Slideshow." Or something like that.
Now, who's ready to make a faux fur coat?! (Should we do a sew-along?)
I agree with Jo, this is the BEST of Cathy's work (and yours, too). She is truly a '70's woman. This was a wonderful photo shoot. Cathy looks so wonderful in her outfit and so happy to be with Michael - Peter I hope you are not the jealous :-O Faux fur coat Sew-A-Long sounds like fun!
I haven't commented on any of Cathy's photo shoots before (although always look forward to them!) but this one is just INCREDIBLE. The pantsuit, the coat (good choice going for cat cuffs)... the TURBAN (omigod, especially with the hair) and the EARRINGS... just amazing. Stunning makeup too. Bravo. I look at my own styling today and I'm put to shame...
I agree with Liza Jane, the photo outside of Hooters was unexpected and hilarious. I'll tell you, I hurt myself laughing. Amazing job working with challenging fabrics. I'm totally impressed, I really enjoyed reading your blog this week.
I agree with others - the 70's is Cathy's decade! She looks darling in styles of other yester-years, but this outfit is dyn-O-mite. Each piece on its own is to die for, but together. Love it, love it, love it. I lack Cathy's overall glamor, but I'm seriously re-thinking faux fur for outerwear for myself. Tres bien fait, Monsieur!
Fabulous! Cathy and Michael look wonderful together, careful Peter. The outfit is spectacular. I'd kill for a coat like that. Oh wait, I used to have one similar. Where is it now? As always, love your dedication to sewing and pushing yourself to try something new.
Love the Cathy-story, the atmosphere, the pantsuit, the beanie, the coat, the dreams... ahhh everything about this post! <3 Now to do some dreaming of my own. Have a fab A-list weekend! <3
Your best yet, truly. Cathy looks so glamorous!! (I'm ashamed to say I didn't realise it would all come together so brilliantly, I suppose it's that the clothes are really being worn and used. dunno really). The pictures on the subway are particularly great. Bravo.
F-a-b-u-l-o-u-s! Cathy truly sparkles in her new outfit. I do hope she thanks you for all the hard work you do Peter to better her wardrobe, and does not merely leave all her custom tailored items smelly of her perfume as she wafts in & out of your life?
I had my doubts when I saw the fabrics and patterns chosen for these projects but I think this has turned out to be your and Cathy's masterpiece. My mom sends her love to Cathy!
Love it!! I do so enjoy your photo shoots - both the whimsy and the drama. Of course, the picture in front of Hooters is priceless. I guess I should have realized that particular piece of white trash has made its way to NYC, but the Myrtle Beach one where my husband and I got the giggles because I nursed our youngest son there will forever stand out as the epitome of tacky.
Your outfit is fabulous, and I loved the slideshow you put together with captions (candlelight dinner at HOOTERS?!). I got a wonderful Mary Tyler Moore Show vibe from the whole thing -- Cathy totally rocked the ensemble.
I must say, I think this is the best I have seen Cathy - the look is AMAZING on her - everything just works beautifully from tip to toe! Oh, and my Mum still wears Charlie Blue :)
What a triumph! All those sewing challenges -- only the one who sews it ever knows what was involved -- and the outcome is a knockout. The pantsuit is perfect for Cathy's personality -- elegant and cute at the same time! The coat is marvelous. I love the photos of Michael and Cathy, two beautiful people for sure. Thanks for the inspiration and the love of life!
Move over Liza coz there's a new gal in town! Fabulousness all 'round. I'm not sure i'm ready for a fur sew-a-long; mainly because i've just started the men's shirt sew-a-long (and just between you and me, it's a bit lonely doing it a year on from everyone else LOL).
Peter - the clothing is beyond chic and absolutely sophisticated !!! That Cathy ... the photo shoot is by far her best. I'm not sure how she does it, but she looks youger and better yet again. Think she's had a few nips and tucks? Also the gorgeous posture ... she is runway ready, though I wouldn't go mentioning it for obvious reasons ....
Très chic. Cathy looks amazing. Fabulous photo shoot :-) I would soooo love to do a faux fur coat sew along but I have just ventured into making a jacket... already with stolen work time. I'm considering early retirement!
Love the coat, the pants suit, the hat, the jewelry, the makeup...everything!!! Why do I remember the 70's as the disaster years of fashion? Peter you have brought that disaster into a huge 2012 fashion extravaganza! Cathy looks gorgeous!
Lovely lovely lovely. Many thanks for reviving fond memories of my first pants suit decade. Oh how I wish I'd hung on to my apple green one (daywear) and had possessed the fabric and inmagination to make myself a sparkly black one for theatre evenings in the slightly less vibrant than NY city of Melbourne Australia . (But I wasn't a Charlie girl- stricly patchouli pour moi).
Cathy's outfit is incredible! I love it and I want it. Yes, please do a fur sewalong. I have my purple faux fur sitting on a shelf where I look at it every day and I only have two more garments to finish my SWAP ... winter is coming and I need a faux fur coat.
Absolutely amazing! I can only agree with everyone else. Cathy looks stunning and your choices for the entire ensemble are right on point. The 70s are definitely Cathy’s era. The photo shoot is as much a work of art as the clothing. The Charlie-girl vibe is captured perfectly. The shot at Hooters is priceless.
I, too, was fondly struck by a Mary Tyler Moore moment. This is absolutely fantastic. Excellent work - Cathy really and truly shines. Bravo - really wonderful photo shoot, too.
Ditto what everyone else is saying- I love so many of Cathy's other garments while they're being sewn, but she's never looked better in a photo shoot. The hair, the make-up- she's gorgeous. -Caitlin
I'm a native New Yorker and sewing fanatic! I started sewing in 2009 and today make all my own clothes using vintage sewing machines and vintage patterns, in addition to sewing for private clients. Welcome to the warm and whimsical world of Male Pattern Boldness, where the conversation is sewing, style, fashion, fabric, and more!
This is amazing! The pant suit is to die for! Totally Liza Minelli! I need one in my life! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite Cathy ensemble yet. The 70's vibe really suits her. Nice work!

ReplyDeleteOh, Cathy looks gorgeous! That pant suit does amazing things for her, and brings out her (forgive me) sparkling personality!
ReplyDeleteAnd the coat just looks fantastic. Nice job, Peter. :)
BRILLIANT! I love the line.... 'A' train today, A-list tomorrow! FABULOUS job!!!
ReplyDeleteCathy looks wonderful in this outfit. Great job! This is definitely her look and her make-up is the best I've seen it.
ReplyDeleteWho needs Liza when you can have Cathy?! Gratz!
ReplyDeleteCathy looks so glamorous, I love the whole outfit!! and that might be my favorite hairstyle on her, she looks absolutely lovely!!!!! nice job Peter.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Cathy and Michael look wonderful together, careful Peter. The outfit is spectacular. I'd kill for a coat like that. Oh wait, I used to have one similar. Where is it now? As always, love your dedication to sewing and pushing yourself to try something new.
ReplyDeleteQuel chic, quelle élégance, quelle classe !
ReplyDeleteCathy is a true 70s girl, and wear sequin and faux fur like nobody else can !
Loved the photo shoot!

ReplyDeleteBy far my favourite of Cathy's outfits - I'm loving the almost flapper girl look going on with that cap and glittery outfit! She looks HAWT!
ReplyDeleteCathy and her fashions look fabulous! But Peter! Hooters? Seriously? ;)
ReplyDeleteI know New York is a big city, but has Cathy ever met Aquadisiac? They probably travel in different circles, but I'm just curious.
All 3 of you are definitely A List! Love this outfit and the photo shoot! Well done, well done!
ReplyDelete(For the next one, I see Michael wearing the pink beaver (ahem), strolling down the city streets while the theme from Shaft plays in the background.)
Love it! Of course, I do have a thing for sparkles...
ReplyDeleteCompletely amazing! This is one of my favourite Cathy looks! Well done, Peter! She is lucky to have such a skilled couturier in her family :)
ReplyDeleteI had my doubts when I saw the fabrics and patterns chosen for these projects but I think this has turned out to be your and Cathy's masterpiece. My mom sends her love to Cathy!
ReplyDeleteStunning. What else can I say?

ReplyDeleteThe pantsuit is perfect for Cathy's figure-- she looks lovely in it! And the coat is just the right look with the pantsuit.
ReplyDeleteTrès chic. Cathy looks amazing. Fabulous photo shoot :-) I would soooo love to do a faux fur coat sew along but I have just ventured into making a jacket... already with stolen work time. I'm considering early retirement!

Love the outfit and photo shoot. Cathy looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe 70's is one of my favorite decades - in fact, "Charlie" was the first purfume I ever "borrowed" from my sister :)
Holy crow, I don't think I've ever seen Cathy look so happy, so full of energy, so VIVACIOUS! Meeee-OW! Egads, I want her outfit, that is so KABLAM!
ReplyDeleteCathy looks incredible! But Michael did NOT seriously take her to Hooters, did he??
