Friends, the pants are finished! Below are a few shots Michael took of me in them.
First, a reminder that these are the cropped pants pattern from the Japanese pattern book "Men's Clothes For All Seasons," which I bought last month at Kinokuniya bookstore. I made no alterations and they came out looking just like the photo. (I love when that happens.) I made the size Medium, which translates roughly as 30-31" waist.
Cropped pants seem to be having their moment. They aren't for everybody and I'll admit, they don't work with everything I own, but what does? They do look sharp with the red work jacket I recently made from the same book, however.
Here I am standing nonchalantly in front of a UPS truck. At MPB Industries, we like to keep it fresh!
I may try making a shirt from this pattern book next month. In the meantime, I think I've done justice to this very cool Marimekko fabric which I found it at the Chelsea flea market last winter. It was designed in 1988 by Fujiwo Ishimoto and is called "Lainehtiva," I love a panel print and this is an excellent one.
Have a great day, everybody!
I agree. These look awesome!

DeleteSuch an intriguing fabric, a suit with the "wild" pattern at the bottom and moving to a more traditional look at the top might be interesting.
