Friends, the big day has finally arrived!
No, not Cathy's due date (sometime this summer, I believe). I mean the day of our 1950's maternity ensemble photo shoot!
This wasn't our easiest shoot, primarily because Cathy's ankles now have a tendency to swell and she constantly craves tuna fish with Nutella. But ever the trooper, Cathy came through, and how! Radiant, with a twinkle in her eye and skip in her step (at least at the beginning of our shoot), Cathy proved once again that she is the consummate professional.
The opera coat lined and hemmed, fashion accessories at the ready (including a beautiful vintage hat -- a gift from an MPB reader!), we set out on this resplendent April morning.
As always, I hope you enjoy our photo shoot. I know you'll be sensitive to Cathy -- who does seem more prickly these days -- and avoid the word "hilarious" when describing her delicate condition. She doesn't see the humor in it. Especially as she begins to resemble a late-August heirloom tomato.

ReplyDeleteThat outfit is so much more elegant than the knit dresses worn by the other celebrity mothers-to-be. In fact, it is so lovely that it could justify increasing my chocolate and wine intake so I'd have an excuse to sew something like it.

I LOVE the opera coat ... it is absolutely fabulous. Watching you sew it, I realised that if you are sewing things yourself, you are not restricted by the fabrics garments are normally made of. I can use a light(ish) cotton and make myself a coat that I can wear even in the tropics (in the cooler months) :-) Okay, not the me right now, but the me in a years time when I have more sewing skills.

ReplyDeleteI hope Cathy is thinking post baby (babies) fashion; we all expect nothing but pure fabulousness from her as a new mother. I recently saw a lovely vintage bath apron pattern on Etsy and totally imagined Cathy bathing her new born wearing such a garment.

I’m also amazed at how quickly you made the entire ensemble. I give Cathy credit for struttin’ her stuff in those heels. What a gal! The photo shoot is also really beautiful, with the sunshine, flowers and asbestos warnings. Well done! I really do hope Cathy can ditch the ciggy habit.
