Friends, is it possible that MPB Day 2017, scheduled for this coming Saturday, August 12th, is tomorrow?!
Like every year, I spend the day before MPB Day making sure every detail is perfect. This year, I'm going for a more natural look (see top): more freckles and easy on the lip rouge.
As far as accessories, I'm still deciding between the orange lenses and the green. Thoughts?
I still don't know what I'm going to wear but I do hope to be recognizable.
Naturally, I've been checking with the fabric stores to make sure they're fully stocked. They're ready for us -- including Metro Textiles (I arranged with Kashi to open on Saturday just for us).
As most of you already know, at lunchtime we host a pattern swap. You are encouraged to take patterns whether you've contributed your own or not. Sewing magazines are also welcome but please leave the sewing machines at home!
I can't wait to see you all on Saturday, whether you're flea market shopping with me in the morning, joining us at the museum or at lunch, or just showing up for shopping and shmoozing in Bryant Park in the afternoon.
Get plenty of rest this week and see you on Saturday!
I will be tan, rested and ready! I'm really looking forward to it. Claudine
ReplyDeleteWhen someone finds great quality gingham fabric in beautiful colors, they should go ahead and buy it before it's gone.
ReplyDeleteHave a great MPB day! I loved it last year even with the 100+ degree temps. I hope to join you again in 2018. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteIt's my dream to join you for this event, but I don't know if I will ever get to visit!
ReplyDeleteSorry to miss the event this year. I hope you have a few guys in attendance.
ReplyDeleteMe too. We'll miss you!
DeleteIf I had not left Brooklyn I would never miss an MPB day! Instead I will name a pattern that was not in the recent contest. I would call the "foundation" pattern pictured, "Come Fly With Me". I know you will all have a wonderful day on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annushka! :)
DeleteHave a great day! I will be there in spirit and hope to be there in person in 2018. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Erzulimojo.
DeletePlease post numerous photos, Peter. Many of us voyeuristicly nourish our MPB hunger via pics and the comments of attendees.
looking forward to it!
ReplyDeletep.s. you HAVE to tell me where you find your sunglasses. those are fabulous!
The Chelsea Flea Market -- $1 apiece!
DeleteI'm so there!
DeleteDarn, I'm in California. But I say orange sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteOne of the (very very few) times I am sad that I live in the San Francisco Bay area- I wish I could go! Maybe I will have my own MPB day out here all by myself. I vote orange sunglasses too!
ReplyDeleteDoes that gingham mean Kashi will be open for us??
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm going to add that to the text of the post.
DeleteI have draping class in mood which starts at 10 am, but would love to join for flea market hunt and maybe lunch if it's possible. Sure it will be fun day <3
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome to join us for any part of the day that works for you!
DeleteI so enjoyed being there last year! I hope it is a bit cooler for you this time around too!
ReplyDeleteSO sorry I am going to miss it this year! Please post an extra-thorough after-party report for me so I can enjoy vicariously. And I vote for the sunglasses on the left, though the green ones are very Iris Apfel =)
ReplyDeletePeter, I'm sew looking forward to MPB Day and I'm liking the Orange lenses glasses : )
ReplyDeleteWill be joining tomorrow at FIT, looking forward to it. If it were going to be as hot as last year, we would all be wearing sunglasses only, like the green. Will go through my pattern stash tonight. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I look forward to seeing you again, Jean!
