Peter Models the 1970's Groovy Sheet Suit!
Friends, the suit is finished. OK, it still needs a few buttons here and there, but otherwise I am ready to move on.

Look For the Silver Lining
Friends, there's almost always something on the garments I sew that I would do differently.
Rarely, however, do I realize what the something is before I've even finished my project! In the case of my still-not-finished 70's sheet blazer, it's the lining.

Hot Pockets or "Get Welt Soon"
Friends, I am totally not a welt pocket expert but I did have moderate success today on the four pockets I made for my flower-power sheet jacket.

Getting started on the 70's sheet jacket
You knew I was making a jacket to match those pants, right?
Fortunately my double flat sheet is large enough for both garments. Is a double the same as a twin or a queen? Anyway, it is -- well, was -- a big sheet.

Saturday Sewing: Groovy Pants from 70's Sheet!
Readers, I have had this vintage Seventies Springmaid "Wondercale" double flat sheet, a Salvation Army find, in my fabric stash for nearly three years.

Cathy in the Spotlight!
Readers, I'm so excited and honored. Today's post on Sally McGraw's marvelous Already Pretty blog is all about Cathy -- and me, of course.
Do please hop on over and read Sal's interview. It may answer some questions you've had too.

Finding One's Personal Style When Anything Goes
Readers, I'm in a quandary.
I'm trying to figure out how I want my new gray suit to look and I feel overwhelmed with options. It seems like nowadays any style can work provided you can pull it off. I don't even know what's in fashion any more.

Oogly Googley: social media fatigue and other related rants
I am so tired of social media, I can't begin to tell you.
Wait: is a blog considered social media? I don't even know.

A Change of Heart + Thoughts on Thrifting
A change of HEART -- get it?
Friends, I thought about it, I really did, and I have decided against metallic fabric for the time being. A metallic linen suit would be fabulous, no doubt, and perfect if I had a big event coming up -- say, the Grammy's (that's a joke). I really could use a nice suit, however, and if I'm going to go to all that trouble, I want it to be something I can wear on a regular basis.

Peter's Jacket and Matching Shorts REVEAL!
Hi, everybody! I'm Willy.
Peter's post about his Marc Jacobs daisy print taffeta jacket and matching shorts just went live on the Mood Sewing Network site.

Finishing the Jacket, Starting the Matching Shorts
Readers, when I recommend a product on this blog it's because I genuinely use it and like it. So when I say that Collins two-sided Wonder Tape made my life a whole lot easier these last two days, I mean it. Are you familiar with it?

Making Welt Pockets or "Take a Deep Breath and Pray"
Greetings, patient readers!
As you can see above, I was alerted to yet another image of that Marc Jacobs daisy print silk gown (actually poly silk -- though it's never stated in these fashion spreads) that so many of you apparently loathe. I just find it a strange fabric choice for a ballgown -- the equivalent of a liver-flavored lollipop.

Adorin' Lauren + flea market vintage hat SCORE!
Readers, many of you may know that sewing blogger Lauren Taylor (aka Lladybird) of Nashville is here in New York City this weekend and I am one of the lucky many who got to meet her. Actually, today was our fourth date. We'll find out what happens next at tonight's rose ceremony (hope you get the reference).

The Beefcake Aesthetic -- YEA or NAY
Readers, honestly, is this your kind of thing?
I have always found physical culture -- pumping iron, oiling up your muscles, posing hairless in a thong -- to be a bit of a joke. And it has nearly always been represented that way in pop culture: big beefy muscles = dumb cluck. The stuff of high camp.

The Undeniable Sexiness of Vintage Men's Underwear
Readers, it must be said: there is something about old-fashioned men's underwear that is very alluring. Or is this a minority viewpoint?

Getting Others to Clean My Clutter!
Readers, remember that famous scene in Mark Twain's classic, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," when Tom's Aunt Polly wants Tom to whitewash the picket fence and clever Tom gets the other neighborhood boys to do it by pretending it's the most fun thing in the world?
OMG, that's what I did yesterday with friend and fellow blogger, Suzanne, and she totally fell for it!

Simplicity Safari Jacket - WHO WEARS IT BEST?
Don't ask me just how it happened, I wish I knew.
I can't believe that it's happened, and yet it's true.
Friends, those immortal words of -- Do you know? -- describe exactly how I feel about this Simplicity 8823 muslin-turned-favorite-project-of-2013 (so far). And Michael likes it too. So much so, in fact, that he wants it. Do I give it to him? That, my friends, will be up to you.
