Custom Clothing
The clothing I make is one-of-a-kind. Generally my clients come to me with an idea of what they want and, after discussing possibilities with me, we come up with a plan. I will measure you and, if necessary, I will make a sample garment (known as a muslin) first. Generally, I purchase the fabric, the cost of which is included in the final cost of the garment.
Sometimes a client will already own fabric they want made into a garment. That's fine, provided it is fabric that's suitable to the project. (For a men's shirt, 2 yards usually does the job.)
Men's shirt prices typically range from $200-300 per shirt.
The garments I make are entirely sewn by me. I sew exclusively on vintage, all-metal, mechanical sewing machines, some dating back many decades. These classic machines create beautiful, consistent stitching on any kind of fabric, which is not true of many of the plastic machines manufactured today. I use top quality materials in my projects, including fabric, thread, and buttons.
If you're interested in discussing a custom clothing project, please email me at peterlappinnyc [at] gmail [dot] com. We'll schedule a time to discuss what you have in mind.
I look forward to working with you!
