Cathy on the town in her taffeta dress!
Beloved readers and Cathy fans, what can I tell you about last night's revelries you haven't already read on "Page Six"?
What a party, what a dress, what a girl!
Cathy, ever the professional, put a brave face on a challenging situation: there were torrential downpours all day yesterday and Cathy's dress was extremely prone to water stains, as you already know. Nonetheless, she made it work, as she always does.
Below is her latest photoshoot and I do hope you enjoy it. Does a major film star -- a living one -- make an appearance? You'll have to watch and find out.
As always, to see these photos full-size, please click on any image and then, in Picasa, choose "View All" in the upper left hand corner, and "Slideshow."
Cathy can't wait to wear her taffeta cocktail dress again in better weather, and has asked me to solicit party invitations on her behalf.
BTW, she was so touched by your concern about her outfit, she'd like to offer all of you an opportunity to wear it. The logistics sound complicated but we'll figure something out.
So...how do like the dress?
Enjoy!
Cathy looks divine! I love the contrast of the lace nothing underneath and then the lace with the taffeta underneath :)

"So...what do you think of the dress?"
ReplyDeleteThe DRESS is lovely...
But YOU, Cathy--you look wonderful!! Fresh, young, sophisticated, feminine, sexy, classy, classic--wonderful!!

This has to be Cathys best dress yet. Looks like a fabulous evening. Poor Jake missed out on a good thing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress and Cathy does look divine in it....great pics!!
ReplyDeletelove the slideshow! free entertainment in the comfort of my own laz-y-boy, complete with lace and handsome dudes. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteAs always, Cathy looks stunning and that party looks super cool!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Simply lovely!
ReplyDeleteCathy looked fantastic! Looks like Jake just doesn't know how to appreciate a "real" woman!
ReplyDeletePeter, you, Cathy and Michael are too funny for words! The dress came out STUNNING, and thank goodness the rain didn't ruin it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful dress, it sets off Cathy perfectly, making her shine.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful -- the dress, the model the partygoers, the photo essay as a whole. But am I the only one now craving oysters and a masterful shucker...?
ReplyDeleteCathy looked amazing Peter, such poise and elegance, you can tell she's a professional model. Jake is obviously one sandwich short of a picnic. x
ReplyDeleteYou were so right about the length-- very flattering!
ReplyDeletefor sure my favourite Cathy outfit ever! She looked amazing, more than usual that is!
ReplyDeleteOMG, OMG, OMG, OMG! That woman is up and down. Hobnobbing, then stood up. How does she manage all the drama.
ReplyDeleteObvs, her natural cache is improved by her couture garments. I LOVE that lace overlay. I wish I had the nerve to make something like that.
Maybe after the jeans sew along. (Secretly, I'm alread a bit nervous about that.)
Cathy looks stunning! While Jake seemed (sadly) to be rather playing down his gorgeous looks. I suspect he just felt too dressed down for her loveliness. His loss!
ReplyDeleteFAB-U-LOUS dress! Cathy does dress to impress. Hands down much prettier and better dressed than Jake's date. :) Looks like it was a fab night!!
ReplyDeleteAs always Cathy looks stunning! Quite a party! Quite a time!
ReplyDeletedress is awesome...incredibly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCathy's dress is magnificent! Where in the world is her umbrella is there is downpours? :]
ReplyDeleteFrom my perspective Cathy's evening was to die for and her dress simply lovely!! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCathy's dress is divine (as is she in it)! What a wonderful evening, even 'tho Jake didn't show... C'est la vie!
ReplyDeleteCathey and the dress were both fabulous! Looks like those famous NY parties are much better than what I've been getting lately too :-). But, while I don't want to be difficult, I don't think Michael's bow tie matched the taffetas.. Did he settle for a scarf :-)??
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favourite dress. Cathy looks divine!
ReplyDeletebeautiful dress, too bad it is not my size. I was wondering, silk waterspots but if you wash it first that prevents it. Perhaps if you washed the taffeta first would that have prevented the spot??
ReplyDeleteWhat a story, what a night, what a dress!!!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so cool & Cathy looks so great in it. I should make myself one to wear to the opera!
ReplyDeleteHysterical. I love your photo essay of Cathy's evening.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is lovely, as is Cathy. She is one lucky gal, all around-a fabulously talented cousin to sew for her; a handsome gentleman to escort her to all of these parties, AND the invitations to swinging parties where she can show off these amazing frocks! Wow-I do believe Cathy is back in the flow of her glamorous life again!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is a triumph!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. My first-ever evening "gown", for an 8th grade formal, was emerald green taffeta, made with my Nana. Cathy is much more glamorous, I love all of her exploits, and you are an amazing sewist! I enjoy your blog so much!
ReplyDeleteCathy really looked in that dress. I so much enjoyed the pictures and the story :)
ReplyDeleteStupendous..best yet...adore this dress and you! Pure perfection. Jake~Schmake who needs him?
ReplyDeleteWonderful! A great night, a great dress, a gorgeous gal.....Jake was not that bright to miss the perfect ending to a perfect night.....sigh
ReplyDeleteMaria
PS - Love the pictures and the dress, Cathy looked FANTASTIC!
WOW!!! The dress is fabulous! Perfect length. And Cathy looks fantastic. Wonderful pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
All right. I've been lurking here quite a while, and there's something I gotta say.
ReplyDeleteThat lace redingote makes you look so amazingly masculine, but on Cathy it is the height of womanly beauty.
You are a genius.
Now I'll go look at the rest of the photos.
Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress! Might I suggest the addition of a princess length strand of pearls to set off that lovely neckline? Cathy looks Ab Fab, nice job! :D
ReplyDeleteStunning!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful costume! What triumphant party entrance for Cathy! How bravely she bears the burden of her beauty and vivacity being just too much for the average man to cope with! They flutter like moths towards her flame but on feeling her heat they hightail for someone less likely to leave them singed. Ooh if only the handsome and obviously wonderful Michael’s heart did not belong to the stunningly talented Peter. Pour me another gin and tonic the tears are welling….. Please make her next photo shoot a simple story of sunshine, butterflies and beauty.
ReplyDeleteStunning! Cathy looked so elegant, the others couldn't hold a candle to her.
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS dress on a FABULOUS girl!!! Just amazing!!! Cathy had to meet my "sister" Kiki sometime!! :)
ReplyDeletePeter, how fabulous. I love the dress and I love Cathy. The slideshow made my day, and I thought "this is why they invented the internet." This, and The Sewing Lawyer's post on understitching.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the lovefest, but Cathy looks just gorgeous in her new dress, Peter! And I just adore it when Michael dresses up. Cute, cute couple! Watch out for that girl with your man, tho. She's trouble! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never wanted to be Cathy more than I do right at this moment. >sigh<
ReplyDeleteDivine! What a triumph!
ReplyDeleteThat party was MANtastic!
ReplyDeleteCathy worked the room RAW!
MENvious,

You really did Cathy justice with this dress. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI loved the slideshow! where do you find all those wonderful vintage photos?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, guys!
ReplyDeleteMagda, I get most of my photos off Google Images. I'll do a search under, say, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and take it from there.
Oh I just love this! This is such inspiration for my sewing.
