SAVE THE DATE -- MPB Day WINTER FROLIC 2020!

Readers, I know it's still December.

I know that there are a million things that can happen between now and next March including catastrophic climate change, political insurrection, and a long-awaited It's a Living Netflix reboot.

Nevertheless, it is not to early to announce the next MPB Day Winter Frolic, which will take place on Saturday, March 7th.  For those of you who must book flights, reserve your suite at The Four Seasons, or schedule a last-minute trim and blow-out, do it now.

What happens on an MPB Day Winter Frolic?  Here's what I have planned!

1) FIT MUSEUM VISIT

We will meet at 11 am at the Fashion Institute of Technology Museum on 7th Avenue & 27th Street.

At the museum we will see not one, not two, but THREE exhibits: "Power Mode: The Force of Fashion" (I caught this last week and loved it); Ballerina: Fashion's Modern Muse; and the sure to be breathtaking "Eleanor Lambert: Empress of Seventh Avenue."  Yipee!

As many of you already know, the museum is free and restrooms are available as well as an indoor space to wait if it's cold outside.  There's STILL no gift shop but maybe someday!

Directions to the museum are here.

2) LUNCH

We'll be grabbing lunch at 12:30 pm at Panera Bread, just half a block north of the museum.  Lunch at Panera has become an MPB Day tradition and it never disappoints.  As always, we will be holding New York's biggest pattern swap, so think about which of your unloved patterns you might wish to donate and start visualizing the patterns you hope to find there!

3) FABRIC SHOPPING

Many claim that fabric shopping is the highlight of their MPB Day Winter Frolic experience, after the museum, lunch, and the pattern swap.  At 1:30, we will be heading uptown on foot to the Garment District (less than 10 blocks away) as well as visiting a few fabric stores closer to our lunch spot like the lovely Fab Scrap shop and AKN Fabrics (the BEST place to find African wax prints).

We'll be exploring a wide range of fabric and sewing notions stores including Mood, Botani, Pacific Trim, Chic Fabrics, B&J Fabrics, and many more.

4) HANGING OUT

At 4:30 pm, we'll meet at the spacious upstairs dining level of 'Essen on Eighth Avenue between 35th and 36th Streets.  There we'll rest our weary feet, re-hydrate and nosh, and enjoy a little fabric "Show-and-Tell" till it's time to say good-byeWe may even start planning our outfits for the next summer MPB Day in August!

***

I'll be reminding everyone when we get closer to the date, but please RSVP by sending an email to me at peterlappinnyc at gmail dot com, so I can keep track of who's coming.  (If you know you'll be meeting us at lunch, please let me know that too.)

As always, the MPB Day Winter Frolic is a free event, but you'll want to bring some money for lunch and fabric shopping, so starting saving now!

Hope you can make it!
