Modeling My Navy Blue Suit at Mood!

Friends, as promised, my suit -- the first I've completed that wasn't made out of a vintage bedsheet, btw -- is live and ready for your inspection on the Mood Sewing Network.  Just click here.

Since this blog launched, there have been a number of suit-related false starts: jackets that never got matching pants, pants that never got matching jackets.

This time I followed through and the results are eminently wearable.  I'm suiting up for summer and I hope you are too.

Have a great day, everybody!

  1. Your strength (and pleasure), is modeling. Why didn't Cathy open any doors for you when she was on top?

  6. You look very dapper in your suit. The insides are also lovely.

  7. It looks expensive and so do you. My favorite pic is the very first. The cloth looks like it moves and drapes very well and the slight rumpling is enough to be dressed up or down. Good on you for finishing!

  8. Gorgeous suit - but of course - but what memories Simplicity 3181 up top conjures up! That was my mother's go-to for church clothes, and I had variations on that shorts suit until I was about 11. I probably haven't seen that illustration since 1973 or so (at which point her original pattern envelope was beyond tattered).

  9. Making a suit seems like a very big challenge (this is an assumption as I've never made one). It looks very good on you and love the combo with the sandals.

  10. I'm in love! I wish I were a man so I could wear a suit and have it look that good.

  11. Very debonair. All you need is a Ginger (without the Repub leanings) and you could dance down the street. Cathy will have to learn to dance (in a new dress).

Excellent! Excellent workmanship, fine choice of fabric. *IF* you wanted to mimic a high end corporate suit (which I don't believe was or is your intent), I'd suggest lowering the legs so the cuff just breaks over the instep, making the jacket waist a tad wider, making the pants a tad fuller through the hips and thighs. Corporate suits show off the expense of crafting the suit, not the trimness of the man wearing the suit. I hear tell most corporate executives look FAR better in their expensive suits than they do in their natural suit.
    Again, excellet job.

  13. oh, Peter, it came out just gorgeous! I love all the color you used on the insides, too =)

I do all my hand-stitching sitting in a comfy chair or sofa and either watching movies or listening to great pod-casts. It really makes the sewing more enjoyable and the time goes faster. I have several sewing projects that have certain movies or TV shows embedded in their memories =)

  17. It looks great! I seem to remember in the dim dark past that fabric was purchased for a suit for Michael... will his suit be next?

    1. I don't think he likes the fabric anymore...he's changed seasons.

    2. You procrastinated so long Michael changed seasons? That's hilarious!

Ah well, another suit for you :)
