MPB EXCLUSIVE: Entire Leopard Coat Photo Shoot, The MOVIE!

Friends, today I want to share something special.

The photo shoot for the Miyake leopard coat was too big to post on the Mood Sewing Network in its entirety, so I've decided to share it with you here.

Rather than send you over to a Picasa folder the way I usually do, I've turned the shoot into a YouTube HD slideshow, complete with music!

Since I couldn't decide which musical accompaniment I liked better, however, I have included both below.

Click here to hear the Andrea Marcovicci "What Is Love?" version, or just click the image below (supersized to fill your screen if you want to see all the details).

Click here to hear the Brigitte Bardot "Une Histoire de Plage" version, or just click on the image below (supersized, of course).

Either way, I hope you enjoy the shoot and the music.

For you MPB completists, which version do you prefer (or think works better)?

Have a great day, everybody!

  1. A very nice movie. Great backgrounds. I had rather hoped to hear you singing. The peaked cap does not honour the coat in the same way as the Tzar's hat does. It's a wonderful coat – love the lining. I'll bet it's warm. Is it? You did a great job. Bravo!
    Thanks again for the inspiration

  2. Your coat is just beautiful. I love that you compiled them all into a video - loved it. Thanks :-)

  3. I vote Andrea Marcovicci. I just goes better with New York backdrop. Grittier, more mature vocals. That coat is fabulous. You just pulled off the unisex look with the fabrication. And I didn't think I'd like the plaid lining, but that tilts it toward menswear just enough.

  4. Ahhhh! Thanks for sharing more pics! I can't even deal with how much I love this coat-- it's so dramatic and fantastic!

  5. "What is love",works for me Brigitte Bardot very irritating. great coat though. The scarf works too, the lining fabric is a lovely subtle colour, I wouldn't have used plaid for the lining myself, but I think it works very well, another triumph Peter.

  6. Love it. I expect to see you in the Times in one of Cunningham's style posts soon. The coat is really dramatic and wonderful You went all out in the styling. Tres chic! I liked Brigitte's rendition. The French lent an air of mystery.

    1. I think you would look fantastic in this coat, Nancy. I hope you'll consider making it since you own the pattern already.

  7. It's so nice and completely fitting for your weather there. You should be very proud of your accomplishment.

  8. Wow! I guess I'm the odd one (like that's news). I like Bardot. I think it has an Ingmar Bergman foreign film feel to it. Slightly slower dissolves from one frame to the next would give it even more feel, I think. Love the last frame.

  9. I did enjoy it! Looks a little chilly in NY right now. 35 degrees Celsius here Sydney.

  10. I was thinking along the lines of ZZ Tops "Sharp Dressed Man".

  11. Peter, you look ravishing! Strangely enough, the concept trapeze line/leopard works very well on you. It's stylish, snappy, and the choice of accessories and clothes are spot on. The first video has my vote!

  12. I like the Bardot version. In the what is love version I was tending to listen to the lyrics because I could understand them rather than looking at the coat. Recalling the Hight Fashion debate of a week or two ago… I think you have cracked it with this shoot. You look magnificent - majestic even. That coat says "I am somebody and, like it or not, I am coming through!"

  13. Both are fabulous, but I have a penchant for the "What is Love" version. :) I agree, it's grittier. That photo of you and the woman is a classic. ;)

  14. Fabulous darling, but then again nothing less is ever expected of you. Btw, browsing around your YT channel.. I had NO IDEA you can sing that well!

  17. You are a wonder! Knit + leopard print does not usually equal potential inclusion in The Sartorialist. Bravo. "What is Love" definitely...

  18. You are are indeed a handsome and nimble fingered devil.
    Formidable music and coat.

  19. I prefer "Une Histoire de Plage" to "What is Love?". In one way, the wistful melody of "What is Love?" works with the feel of a grey, winter day. But, with the lyrics it just feels too sad. I'm not sure about "Une Histoire de Plage" either, but it has a more upbeat feel which I think is better.

Howe about something like Claudine Longet's "The Look of Love"? The melody has an appropriate mood and the lyrics aren't as sad.

  20. I think both versions are great, but I prefer the Andrea Marcovicci one, perhaps because the melancholy seems to suit the weather best.

  21. Not vouching for either music choice. New York native Steve Conte's songs (his own) or ones sung for Cowboy Bebop would have been choice 1 and Ask DNA by the SeatBelts would have been choice 2. Lots of NYC bounce in those sets!
Like the various traffic/street settings used to backdrop you and your coat!
