Friends, I've been thinking: now that our Men's Shirt Sew-Along is coming to a close, what might we sew together next?
I'd like it to be something practical...
But sexy.
Something I have experience sewing...
And that can work in multiple fabrics (given the non-conformist bent of my readers).
And that's suitable for both men and women.
Something that can be worn loose...
Or snug.
Multiple pockets and topstitching - A+!
Finally, it has to be something we can find an
in-print pattern for.
Can you think of anything that fits these criteria?
Friends, please take some time this week and think about what our next
MPB Sew-Along should be. We wouldn't start till Spring (which is only three weeks away), and certainly not for another month or even two. I think most of you need that much time to finish your shirts.
Nothing is set in stone of course, so if there is something please let me know. Nothing with tulle, please!
Are you in?
Happy Tuesday, everybody!
Oh, this is exciting me! hehehe.
ReplyDeleteI already have a pattern and fabric for a pair of pants. And... I have never done it before. Joining a sew along would be great!
Jeans?! YES PLEASE! I've been totally wanting to whip up a pair of custom-fit, relaxed 50s style jeans. So say no more--count me in! :D

You might be thinking jeans would work? ;-)
ReplyDelete>Nothing is set in stone of course
Jeans in stone? I mean, denim is heavy enough!

Pants, pants, pants...YES!!! I just bought my first pattern for male pants...just read the instructions this morning. Would LOVE to learn from you. PANTS PLEASE! Did I make myself clear?
ReplyDeletePants would be FANTASTIC!! I've made lots for my son, but now my hubby wants some... yeah, he's a lot bigger then an abnormally small 1 yr old, so I'm very nervous, it'd be great to have others doing it along with me.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... TROUSERS maybe?
ReplyDeleteIf you're suggesting what I think you're suggesting, then I might just be in!
ReplyDeleteYes! Jeans, please! Yaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... tempting. I think I have my own jeans "mastered", but jeans for my hubby remain intimidating.
ReplyDeleteLet me finish the shirts first, then we'll see ;)
Unisex pj bottoms with pockets?? ;)

Ooooh - I don't know if I'd be able to sew-along at the same time with everyone (I've barely made a dent in the other sewalong's I'd signed up too yet - gulp!), but I'll sooooooo be bookmarking every post for a jeans sew-along to peruse at a later date :) (yay!)
ReplyDeleteOooh I'm so excited! I've never made jeans before! But whatever the sew-along is, I'm in!
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm game. I've actually never made a pair of jeans and it's about time I did.
ReplyDeleteHey I think a *jeans* sew-along would be great fun!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in! I've been wanting to do jeans for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI've never made jeans before, but bought the Jalie pattern everyone recommends with some denim...now I just need thread and lots of help (maybe rivets?). Oh, and I still need to finish my son's shirt!!
ReplyDeleteThat's it -- Jeans!
ReplyDeleteThanks, you guys! ;)
I have a deconstructed pair of jeans that I know fit me to use as a pattern and have been meaning to get on with making another pair for a while. Can't guarantee I can keep up with everyone else, but I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteI'll need a recommended source of good denim in the UK, if anyone has one?
Please!
ReplyDeleteSign me up! I am so excited, my first pair of jeans and my first sew-a-long!
ReplyDeleteOooh, yes! I have a piece of retro striped corduroy that is just screaming to be made into jeans, and this would be just the kick in the pants I need to actually make them! Awesome!
ReplyDeletepants would be good. I have someone who wants me to make a few pairs for him, and it'd be good to practice before I start sewing for this gig.
ReplyDeleteJeans would be great, I already have a pattern too! Love you sew alongs!
ReplyDeleteI think I might be up for a jeans sew-a-long too! I have several alterations that I want to do on my next pair so this is perfect timing.
ReplyDeleteAll the way down that post I was hoping for you to fool me and say ken mod clothing. But I guess jeans would do :)
ReplyDeleteUntil multiple pockets were listed I thought you were talking about the y-front briefs you once mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI haven't ruled those out, Shirley! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am SO in on this one! I have my Jalie pattern, & it keeps knocking on the spot on the top of the list....this will motivate me to put it firmly there.
ReplyDeleteI hear that April is a very good month for a Jeans sew-a-long....
Er, yes, jeans, sure! But yes also to not starting for a while yet... I am still puttering along on shirts... Feb's a short month! Need a bit of Cathy and such in between to catch our collective breath, yeah?
ReplyDeleteYes, would love to join in another sew-along. I don't mind what it is except I'm not sewing men's jeans. I'll sew a pair for myself though.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try it but don't know where to start with a pattern. When I was learning to sew my mother told me not to make pants b/c they always turn out weird. Peter, your jeans look great. Anybody got a tip for a good women's jeans pattern--something they know is well-drafted and would at least make a good starting point for a first try?
ReplyDeletePlease Please Please to Jeans - I want to make some and your sew along posts for the negroni were so clear, the same again for jeans would be AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteOoh jeans! I have the jalie pattern to make jeans for myself but all the top-stitching, riveting, flat felling etc terrifies me, so a sew along would be great. I should probably finish my brothers shirt first though! But jeans, perfect jeans - how I covet thee!
ReplyDeleteI have my jalie pattern, so it would be a great idea. My first pair was ok, but I need more attention to detail.
