SAVE THE DATE -- MPB DAY, SUMMER 2019!
Friends, the next MPB Day is only eight weeks away -- have you made your outfit yet?
Many of you have already attended in the past but for those who haven't, MPB Day is a get-together I organize every year on the second Saturday in August (and more recently in March as well). This summer's event is our ninth (and eleventh if you count Winter Frolics) and it's a day I look forward to all year long.
In case you're wondering, MPB is short for Male Pattern Boldness, the name of this blog.
The festivities will take place as follows:
1) At 11 am on Saturday, August 10th, we will meet outside the Fashion Institute of Technology Museum where we will visit their most recent exhibit, Minimalism/Maximalism.
Museum attendance is free. Directions are here.
2) After the museum, at noon, we'll have lunch at the nearby Panera Bread on Seventh Avenue between 28th & 29th Streets, during which we will also hold a large pattern swap (which seems to grow and grow every year).
3) After lunch, at 1 pm, we'll go fabric shopping in the Garment District. (This year we'll also swing by the new Fab Scrap shop on West 26th Street.) We'll visit some our our favorite fabric and sewing supply stores like Mood Fabrics, B&J Fabrics, Pacific Trim, Chic Fabrics, Metro Textiles, and so many more!
4) After fabric shopping we'll all meet up at nearby Bryant Park where we'll mingle, grab a cool drink, and share our newly purchased treasures. The day will officially end around 5:30 or 6 pm.
Early Bird Special!
As in years past, any early risers can join me at the outdoor Chelsea Flea Market at 9:30 am and spend an hour or so hunting for treasures.
We'll meet on the northeast corner of the intersection of 25th Street and 6th Avenue (adjacent to Fairway Supermarket).
MPB Day is a free event, but you'll want to bring some $$ for food and fabric. A bottle of water is highly recommended as is an umbrella if the forecast calls for rain.

I'll be reminding everyone when we get closer to the date, but please RSVP by sending an email to me at peterlappinnyc at gmail dot com, so I can keep track of who's coming.
If you know you'll be joining us at the museum, the flea market, or Panera Bread, please let me know that too.
Hope you can make it!
Hooray!...looking forward to seeing everyone...

ReplyDeleteHmmmm???
I look forward to it. A good time had by all.
ReplyDeleteI will be sorry to miss it by 12 days! Boo hoo!
ReplyDeleteIts been on my calendar but I won't be able to make it as its also my anniversary. I thought I could do MPB then get home in time for the Farm to Table dinner with my honey. Just can't swing both. And although MPB is a close, very close second, the anniversary wins out!
ReplyDeleteSee you next year!
