MPB Day Winter Frolic-Eve PREP!
Great news, readers: despite the wintry weather forecast, tomorrow's 2019 MPB Day Winter Frolic is a GO!
As always, I spend the day before MPB Day making sure everything is set as I'm not fond of surprises. Since we're not going to be able to hang out in Bryant Park due to the cold, I have selected a large casual cafe space for us to meet up in once we've cleaned out the fabric stores. It's located right in the heart of the Garment District too!
We'll meet at 'Essen at 519 Eighth Avenue, at the intersection of Eighth and 36th (see pics below). There's plenty of upstairs seating, and if there's not enough available, we'll just start pushing everybody else out like we always do.
I think everything else is ready. My good friend Hollywood makeup artist Perc Westmore has created a more natural daytime look for me this year: the Carol Channing lashes are OUT!
Kashi will be opening Metro Textiles just for us. I swung by there yesterday and saw some great stuff, including a selection of $4/yd. specials -- be sure to ask about them.
Otherwise, FIT Museum exhibits open? CHECK!
Panera Bread (our lunch space) still in business? CHECK! (And hopefully we'll have our regular upstairs table for our pattern swap: grab it if you get there early.)
A few fabric stores have changed location in the past year or so but I'll provide updated addresses tomorrow.
Bundle up, because there's a chance of snow or snowy rain. Nothing you haven't experienced before unless you're flying up from Costa Rica. Luckily, fabric shopping is good for the circulation.
If you arrive at the museum before 11 am, there are bathrooms inside and there's a Pret-a-Manger directly across the street.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow! (I'll be writing my usual recap later in the week for those of you who can't be there.)
One day... one day I'll be in NYC when you're running one of these events!
