Let it never be said that Michael isn't an intrepid model!
We had a foot of snow today, the temperature was 24 degrees Farenheit, and this shirt is made from lightweight cotton voile, but really, what better better backdrop to showcase the fabulous animal print I purchased from Metro Textiles last week?
We were able to shoot this in roughly two minutes, which is fortunate, since today's winter storm warning cautions "Prolonged exposure to cold can cause hypothermia." Our job done, Michael quickly bundled up.
I love the way this shirt turned out. Michael says it's his new favorite, though he says that whenever I sew him something. Still, this one really is special.
A few detail shots:
The inside collar stand is black polished cotton.
Same with the inside cuffs.
Each cuff has two buttons, with a single button on the sleeve placket.
The buttons are genuine mother of pearl.
In closing, this fabric definitely has a John Waters vibe, but the black cotton contrast and the traditional cut keep it from being too over the top. That's my opinion anyway.
How about you? Would you wear a black, white, and neon orange leopard print shirt -- in a blizzard?
Have a great day, everybody!

That shirt is HOT! No wonder Michael managed the photo shoot. I like it way more than I thought I would when you showed us the fabric.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shirt, beautifully made with beautiful details. Suits Michael so well. Great pix too. Sacrificing for ART – it has to be done from time to time.

Love it. So cool..literally.
ReplyDeleteMichael looks very nice in the shirt and you did an excellent job making it. I especially like the black contrast on the collar and cuffs.
ReplyDeleteGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, and brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
ReplyDeleteShirtsleeves in the snow? Even such a beautiful shirt . . . The only thing I would want to wear on a day like that is three courses of brick and a radiator. It's fun to look forward to wearing something new and special.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tribute to Michael's acting ability!! He made it look like he was enjoying freezing to death! Fabulous shirt. I did not think I would like anything made from that fabric. You proved me wrong again.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love that shirt and the black details are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration.
I always love seeing Michael in a photo shoot. That's a beautiful make, again, Peter and the black contrasts are a good choice for this eye-catching fabric. And lovely to see snow too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a triumph! Yours is my favourite sewing blog, but when I saw that fabric I thought you'd lost the plot, I was wrong - the cut and the details have made the shirt look so cool. Fab model of course, the things we do for love! Alex, Manchester UK
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Beautifully made, as always. Great photoshoot!!
ReplyDeleteThe smile on his face says it all...delighted to be a model for your fabulous creations!
ReplyDeleteI adore this shirt! Of course it is beautifully done-yourskill is so evident. And kudos to Michael for risking his health for pictures; he looks fantastic. You hit just the right note with the black bits. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Michael taking a walk on the wild side! Great job, as always!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Michael looks great--I can tell he really, REALLY likes it, too! Great work, Peter! (well, as always!)
ReplyDeleteI think it is fantastic! I love the fact that it is neon leopard print and it really suits Michael. He was very intrepid to model in that weather - he does look awfully chilly in a couple of pic!
ReplyDeleteDid you use a vintage pattern for this shirt??? Was sort of scared of the print but it looks great:)
ReplyDeleteI used Butterick 5579, a men's shirt pattern from, I think, the late Seventies. It's nothing special, however; it happened to be the right size.
DeleteMichael looks fab in his shirt!!
ReplyDeleteVery well done on the shirt. But surprisingly, the colors really suit Michael. I would not have thought that but they do. Excellent choice both of you!!
ReplyDeleteI love this shirt. Michael looks like he loves it too. Love the black details. Whenever I make a shirt for one of the men in my life they always turn decline to have those fun little details... I like the fabric. Thought it was cool when you first posted it and it's even cooler now!
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt, especially the black bits, looks so cool. I also really like how the warm coloured bricks in the background works with the warm colour in the shirt.
ReplyDeleteGood on you Michael for going out in the cold for Art!
I have exactly the same thought whenever you feature something you've sewn for Michael...he has one of the nicest, friendliest smiles I've ever seen. (And the shirt is terrific, too.)
ReplyDeleteOnce again, you've made something absolutely fab out of fabric I wasn’t so sure about. I really like the black cotton contrast. Kudos to Michael for being such a pro. You’d never know he was freezing!
ReplyDeleteI always love to see photographs of Michael modeling your wonderful creations. Michael must be a good actor because like others mentioned you would never know he was freezing. Great job all around.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Perhaps your best photo shoot ever. Better than Cathy's. and that's saying something.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!! It looks amazing on Michael, and that huge smile is a fantastic accessory.
ReplyDeleteFaaaaabulous shirt! Michael wears it so well!
ReplyDeleteThat last photo (I feel it!)... Gorgeous Michael, gorgeous shirt.
ReplyDeleteI will wager, as lovely as this shirt is, that his favoritism has a lot to do with you making it for him.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's very lovely indeed.
Happy Valentine's Day to the both of you, a few days in advance!
It looks great. I love how happy he looks despite the cold!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo shoot! We all need some neon brightness to chase away the winter blues.
ReplyDeleteKudos to Michael for giving his all for the glory of this fabulous shirt! I totally agree that a conservative style can make an out-there fabric look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI really, really like that shirt!
