'Twas the Night Before MPB Day + Camo Jacket UPDATE!
Friends, tomorrow's the big day: our sixth annual MPB Day celebration, seventh if you count last March's Winter Frolic.
Most of you already know that MPB Day is one of the highlights of my year, and I always spend the day before in preparation. I woke up extra early this morning so I could to work on my tan (above), followed by a facial (below) and a trip to the gym.
When I wasn't prepping for MPB Day, I was working on my camo-print wool jacket. Yesterday I'd bought the front zipper at Sil Thread (they'll customize the length for just $1) and picked up some sturdy knit ribbing for the waistband, cuffs, and collar. Today I worked mainly on the lining (two single welt pockets on the inside). So far, so good.
I'd never made rib knit cuffs or waistband before -- it's not hard, though experience attaching elastic helps. I'm very happy with the results.
The inside pockets are also nice. Gotta have a place for my wallet and iPhone!
I hope to finish the jacket on Sunday.
And that's it. If you're joining us tomorrow for MPB Day, I look forward to seeing you there. If you aren't able to attend, I know you'll be celebrating this very special day wherever you are -- by working on a special sewing project, treating yourself to a champagne brunch, or simply enjoying a romantic dinner for two with a treasured pet. Regardless of what you do, you can catch highlights of the day on my Instagram feed. And, as always, you can expect a round-up of all the day's festivities early next week.
I wish you all a very happy MPB Day!
Have a splendifd time tomorrow. I will be there in spirit and longing as I drive back from Florida. Every mile a yard not taken. ☹️
ReplyDeleteI will miss you, Pam. Safe travels!
DeleteI hope you have a fantastic day - it was the highlight of my New York trip last year - still overwhelmed by the amount of fabric that Mood had to offer. I hope to be able to come again one day. Best wishes, Claire (UK) x
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the highlights of the day. I will definitely attend the fall/winter event like the one you held last year. Right now it's at least 100 here in the "land of the Connecticut Yankees", I can only imagine what it's like down there!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to know if you've ever used clear elastic in your ribbed cuffs and waistbands? It's fantastic.....you'll never have to worry about them stretching out of shape over time!
Hallstonette-by-attrition,
DeleteI too am awaiting the compendium of antics and what-not.
Who all attended?????
SickOfItCindy?
Johanna (with diehards Roberta, Claudine, Suzanne, Joanne, and Cindy)? Susan (his client/friend/cause celebre' from a few summer's past)? MainelyDad?
Mouse?
David Page Coffin (that would leave me concerned about the planet continuing to spin on its axis)?
An unannounced visit from a certain west coast blogger (that would have my head spinning on its axis)?
Any surprises from Bloghalla?
Enrique?
Oona Balloona from Kalkatroona?
Rain, himself?
A cameo by Senor King?
An all-day star turn by none other than Cathy Lane, herself (if only!)?
The pattern swap details (and dirt), the weather, and who bought what and where - ALL OF IT, I CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER MOMENT!!!!!
Hot, with repeated "pop-up showers" in central Ohio (which results in a sweltering steam bath when the sun returns).
Mr. So-much-for-not-biting-my-nails
Only Joanne, Roberta, and Susan, alas...
DeleteHave a great time tomorrow at MPB day. I was so inspired by all of this, I bought myself a new ironing board!
