Michael Models My Swiss Dot Creation!

Friends, today's the day!

You can see Michael model the new summer outfit I made him here.

Swiss dot is the most summery fabric I can think of (okay, maybe seersucker too).  It's so airy and delicate and cool-looking.

It's fun to turn fabric usually associated with womenswear into menswear, and create something you wouldn't find at J. Crew, Banana Republic, or Brooks Brothers.  I didn't choose the Swiss dot and the striped linen (which I used for Michael's shorts) at the same time or with any intention of combining them in an outfit.  It was pure luck that I had both in my stash and they paired up so well together.

A hot spell is heading this way, apparently.  With Michael's latest outfit, some sunblock, and a bottle of water, I think he's well-prepared.

Have a great day, everybody, and stay cool!

  1. Correction: what you have in your stash is one male model.

Somewhere between the smile and the stems I noticed the buttons (they're quite nice too).

  3. I've always thought the Swiss are neutral but this is downright subversive! Beautiful work, as always. The buttons add depth and were a great choice.

  6. The shirt, the shorts, Michael - you scored a tifecta.

  7. As always, your shirt making skills are impressive. Removing the button placket seems like a good idea when dealing with swiss dot fabric. Your fabric looks thin and pliable, but I've had difficulty with the dots in folds and seams. Loving the shorts too!

  8. I was in a fancy dapper gentlemens store yesterday. They had a very cool looking suit with shorts like the ones you made here and a blazer type jacket. Same type fabric and style.

  9. I love the texture of the fabric, the pattern mixing, the perfect tailoring--really delightful. Michael is ready for an ice cream social and beachside stroll.
