Peter Models the Silver Metallic Jeans!



My silver jeans are done and you can see me model them here!

I didn't expect to love these as much as I do.  I wouldn't wear metallic pants every day, but for a special occasion they're fantastic.  There's a real rockstar quality to them: more Rod Stewart than Wizard of Oz, thankfully.





I'm pretty sure my metallic jeans can be machine washed though I wouldn't put them in the dryer (and an iron never touched them).  I'll throw a silver fabric remnant in the laundry and see what happens.  Any recommendations?

In closing, it's always fun to cross a new fabric threshold.  Could metallics be the new black?

    Wow -- I didn't expect to like them as much as I do, either. I especially like how you've balanced them with simple staples (black jacket, white t-shirt, high tops), setting off the pants and toning them down a bit. It's a classic, urban look that totally works and my favorite shots are you hanging and on the sidewalk in front of the garage doors. Kudos!

    Questions re. back pockets: I notice they sit rather low (to my eyes) -- is that Kwik Sew or your decision and does that make the pockets more or less decorative? (I find myself not using my back pockets at all as I don't like stretched, creased fabric back there as well as a square wallet bulge on my rear and tempting pickpockets.)

      I consider them purely decorative and I always place them more or less in the same place (I usually just copy the placement from a pair of RTW Levis). I rarely use back pockets either, even on non-stretch wovens.

    Those...are unexpectedly versatile! I'm not sure a jumpsuit (or spacesuit) would work as well, but then I didn't think that the jeans would be especially useful.

    Really, you could practically wear those to work if you were in a business casual environment and paired them with the right things.

    I am obsessed with your jeans! Thanks for posting the alternative fabric, but I'm going to keep an eye out for something as ultra-shiny as yours. I have a friend who loves all things sparkly, and I'd love to make him a pair (and a pair for myself). Of course I'm an utter beginner, so I'm going to wait until my skills are ready for the task. But I'll stash any fabric I find. Thanks for the awesome blog!

    They look really good! I like them paired with plainer clothing. I can't wait to see them with the neoprene and knit. Out of curiosity, where would you wear that ensemble?

    You wear it well. Better even than Rod and Mick - theirs are costume, yours are fab.

    I agree with Mouse about the rear pocket placement, but otherwise they're magic.

    They are AWESOME! And I don't know why it is that I've never used a piece of scrap fabric to launder. That's so simple it's stupid - and I've never thought of it.

    I love them! I admit I thought they were limited in use..but I could see wearing these any given day if I lived in NYC.

    Oh yes, I would stay stitch or serge the edges of the scrap with the thread I used to make the jeans before I tossed it in the wash - that way if there is differential shrinkage, you would be surprised by it.
