MPB Sunday VLOG -- Fabric Hoarders BEWARE!
I rarely feel the need to alert potential vlog viewers about the content of my videos.
I must reveal, however, that in this week's episode, you will witness the display of at least twenty yards of fashion fabric. If you have a history of fabric hoarding, PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS VLOG EPISODE!
Should you choose to watch and, subsequently, suffer a fabric-hoarding setback, MPB cannot claim responsibility.
You will also hear me sing two songs closely associated with Fred Astaire. Astaire-phobics are forewarned.
With no further delay, here's Episode 10 (!) of A Sewing Week in Review!
As always, if you wish to view on a portable device or full-size on YouTube, please click here.
Enjoy and have a great day, everybody!
Hi Peter, you're really warm and natural on video. Can I give you some tips as someone who worked in TV? The background of the painting is great, but you look like you're sitting in a kiddie chair. Try sitting up a little higher in front of the painting, and don't have your head centered in the video screen. The top of your head should almost be at the top of the video screen. And try getting more light where you are when you're singing. Then you'll be ready for your close-up, Mr. DeMille.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's a work in progress. ;)
DeleteThank you for singing the Fred Astaire numbers, especially, "The Way You Look Tonight." The songs are really well suited to your voice and style.
ReplyDeleteThat painting is growing on me, and it looks really good with your furniture.
Love seeing the fabric and hearing your ideas. The linen drawstring pants sure captured my attention. I might steal your idea! I am looking forward to seeing your finished shirt.
ReplyDeleteOh Peter, I wish I lived in NYC so I could join meet you! We share a love of fabric, sewing and the classic songs of yesteryear. Thank you for singing on your vlog, it makes me smile every time!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the singing and the fabric show and tell. I think a robe out of that bold print is a great idea or maybe a duster if you could wear it out. The minute you said that I thought of a kimono so for fun looked up kimono patterns. Ran across a link for making a yukata. I think one of those great striped fabric sent by Michael C would make a super yukata though I don't know if the way they say to make one is a good pattern or not. That sure would be a step up from a plain ordinary robe if you like a Japanese style. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~weyrbrat/Japan/yukata/
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea but I'm not sure I'd wear it -- I'm not really a robe person.
DeleteHey Peter - must draping and a men's shirt be mutually exclusive? I would love to see a draped men's shirt with that wool challis. You'd probably have to do some drafting...I've never seen a pattern like that. But...please, please, consider it!
ReplyDeleteYour Vlogs are great. They always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteWhat about fall lounge wear with the challis- like the 20s pjs and robe you made for Cathy? The busy print would look great set off with a wide solid black shawl collar.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful vlog! I look forward to them every Sunday. :)
ReplyDeletePeter, love your vlog. This my first time viewing one.
ReplyDeleteThank you and keep up the good work.
Great Show this eve. I always liked the idea of using the striped fabric to make a very basic folk wear type of shirt with those wonderful triangle gussets under the arms. Very basis, almost just straight lines. I think you should have another guest like Brian R. on your show. He hasn't been too visible recently. I did notice the buttonhole without a button. Is that a where's waldo kind of thing on the vlog? xoxoxooxo
ReplyDeleteAnother Hit! I so look forward to your blogs!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the painting you found and can't believe someone threw it away!!! and love the blooper at the end :-)
ReplyDeleteYour amazing! Love your vlogs so much, they really a highlight in my week xx
ReplyDeleteHi Peter & everybody, I really enjoy the discussions about fabric. It is so hard to learn about fabric nowadays cause there is not much to see and feel in the craft stores that pass for fabric stores! thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Peter, thanks again for your vlog. I very much like that wool challis fabric and thought maybe one of those smock-type blouses with very wide, gathered sleeves would suit it. Anne-Marie
ReplyDeleteGreat vlog as always. How about some fisherman style pants from the gauze for you?
