Peter Models the Shawl-Collar Cardigan!

Exciting news, friends -- You will not have to wait another moment to see me model my just-completed cotton cardigan!

You can see all the exclusive, never-before-seen pics right this minute by simply clicking here.

I love my new cardigan and secretly hope the weather stays on the cool side just so I can keep wearing it.  Does that make me a bad person?  Naturally, I hope you like it too.

Have a great day, everybody!

  1. I thought it would be bulky, but its fairly slimming. Also, I take back my vote for toggles, less fussy with buttons.....kudos.

    1. A little bulk isn't bad in a sweater like this, I think. In a thin knit it might look droopy.

    2. Completely, especially in a menswear piece. But it still has a suit coat fitted shape....you could easily wear a fun regular or bowtie. And my new obsession....pork pie hats

  2. One of the best things you've done that I've seen The color pops, yet it's very simple and elegant. Cardigans can look frumpy and old-mannish but not this one. Could be dressed up quite easily. Excellent!

  7. Just wanted to say that I'm a big fan, and this cardigan is wonderful! I used the same buttons for my shawl collar cardigan knit design and they're just perfect. Pictures of mine here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/exeter-4

  8. I admit to being somewhat skeptical about this project but you've pulled it off. The buttons were the right choice and it looks great on you.

    Spud.

  10. I too had my doubts about this project, since The Fonz once told Richie Cunningham, "Cardigans! Only nerds wear cardigans!". But this cardigan is cool! Nice placement and finishing on the patch pockets, and your strategy for doing the pockets last was right on, allowing you to size and place them correctly. One cautionary note, wooden buttons will crack and dry out when subjected to washing and drying. Overall, excellent work!

  11. Very nice cardigan Peter, can this pattern be used to sew a jacket in canvas or denim?

  12. I don't like buttons, but I have to say these buttons are a perfect match. Great job, and I love the color.

    1. 1. They're great but FAST and require a LOT of control to sew accurately.
      2. I mainly use my Kenmore 158.141 and Bernina 930.
      3. I am a house husband at present.

  14. Thanks, I always wanted a bernina 930 but they are hard to find. I use my Kenmore 158.1803 alot, came with everything all attachments, I use my 15-91 to stitch everything, i love the vintage buttonholer, gives me perfect results everytime.
