MPB DAY Primp-n-Prep!
Friends, I think I'm ready for MPB Day. Are you?
Before I forget: there is some interest in a pattern swap tomorrow. We can do this either at lunch or after we're done shopping, in Bryant Park. If you'd like to rid yourself of some unloved patterns, please bring them along. If not, that's OK too. Also: the FIT museum restrooms are under renovation. If you arrive early and need to powder your nose, try Argo Tea (similar to Starbucks) across the street on the corner of 26th & 7th Ave. Their restrooms are usually clean and empty.
I've done what I can to fix myself up, given the constraints of time, money, and age. Luckily, my neighborhood is very well-served with nail salons and I was able to get a walk-in appointment.
As for my face, I'm going for a natural look, subtly enhancing my good points and hiding my flaws. Nobody's perfect!
Much of today was dedicated to choosing my outfit from my vast self-made wardrobe.
Hat or no hat?
Long sleeves or short?
So many choices!
I will just have to wing it.
In other news, my blue cotton twill pants are coming along nicely. You will see them finished next week.
In closing, I'm looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow. Don't forget water and sunscreen and please leave your weapons at home. As for the rest of you, I trust you'll be celebrating MPB Day in ways both large and small: fireworks, barn dance, or a soothing beauty bath.
Be sure to check in Monday for a recap of tomorrow's adventures.
Have a great weekend, everybody!
Bah! No weapons this time, please.. My nerves can't take another shootout!
ReplyDeleteCross your fingers for a crime-free day!
Deletehave a great time :-)
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow, if this interminable bus ride from hell ever ends, that is.
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there, but its a long way from the east coast of England to the east coast of the US.
ReplyDeleteI will celebrate MPB Day with fabric shopping in Stockholm!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that I will actually score some fabrics on Saturday.
Where? I'll be back in Stockholm next summer ...
DeleteOh, how I wish I could be there, but I cannot wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to celebrate by working in a psychiatric hospital!
DeleteCan't believe I'm missing another MPB day! Arrrgggg! Have fun tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI'll be celebrating either at one of Melbourne's more refined (and pricey) fabric stores looking for a knit for a summer top, or with a discount coupon at a fabric barn looking for piping cord. Hope the day in NY is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that I would have to skip MPB Day entirely this year, but I just realized that perhaps I can meet at Briant Park! I have to pick my daughter up from camp this morning, but the afternoon is free! What to wear?
ReplyDeleteI vote for "Tweed, Satin & Lace"!
DeleteHave fun!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could attend, but I'm overseas. I'm going to comfort myself by hitting a fabric store and a quilt shop in Amsterdam.
Anyway I hope you'll all have a blast!
love,
Marianne
I had such a great time, thanks Peter for putting this together!
ReplyDeleteWish I could have been there, but I spent my evening watching Scandal and cutting fabric from one of my NYC purchases! Not a bad way to spend a Saturday evening in NC...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great MPB day! Nice to see you, Peter. Michael too!
ReplyDeletePeter, it was such a great day, thank you for keeping MPB Day going year after year! My recap is here: http://vacuumingthelawn.blogspot.com/2013/08/mpb-day-2013-recap.html
ReplyDeleteOh the picture of the lady in the maxi dress from material bought last year!!!Best thing ever. Brought me to tears. We need more get togethers of sewers/seamstresses all over the country. Power to the ladies, and gentlemen, who know how to sew!!!!!!!!!!!!!
