Michael's New Show!
Friends, I'm very happy to announce that Michael has written a new show! (Actually, he has performed it a few times already in the process of developing it.)
The show is called "Platoon Lieder" and it recounts Michael's own story of serving in the army during and after college, in the days before "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." The format of the show is primarily sung, with dramatic monologues throughout, and the music is German lieder (17th - 20th Century art songs) with new English lyrics Michael has written, that tell his story.
Here's a short video with highlights from the show. It's very accessible and also very funny. (To view full size in YouTube, click here.)
If you'd like to read more about Platoon Lieder, you can visit the show's website here.
This being 2013, you can also like it on Facebook here.
It would be great to see some of you at his June 28th performance!
Happy weekend, everybody!
Michael: What a fantastic voice you've got!

ReplyDeleteGreat preview, Michael! It'd be great to see the performance (I enjoyed seeing the one last year).
ReplyDeleteBring it on the road!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful - congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! Let me know when it's touring New Zealand - in the mean time I'm enjoying the video :-)
ReplyDeleteWow I love it. What a great voice !!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Michael ! I spot real talent here. Also love that sparkly tank top. Hugs Sandi
I don't suppose there will be previews before that date?
ReplyDeleteWow! What an incredible voice! And what a talent, to be able to write and perform like that - well done Michael!

ReplyDeleteSpud
I'm going to come, hopefully. I'll have a friend in town so I'll drag her along too. Post about tix when it gets closer?
ReplyDeleteSo awesome--I love that Handel piece, but also Michael's irreverent take on it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Michael! How exciting for you!
ReplyDeleteYay, Michael! I'll try to make it.
ReplyDeleteIncredible and fabulous! Please come to Ann Arbor!

ReplyDeleteWonderful! Your voice is amazing and the lyrics are quite funny.
ReplyDeleteBravo! Most touching.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is so exciting! Sheesh, I'm hard-pressed to think of a couple more collectively talented that you two!
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed both videos, solo Michael and Michael with Cathy's identical twin. If I have a chance to get to NYC on any of the performance dates, I'll be there. As one who misspent her youth in the theatre, it's also great to see talented people actually get a chance to perform. P.S. Is there a cello in the 'Noah' performance?
ReplyDeleteYes, wonderful cello playing by Wendy Law, also well-known as DivamakeupQueen on Youtube. Check out her video tutorials...fun!
DeleteWow, this was great! Good luck Michael!
ReplyDeleteFaabulous Michael! I especially loved your version of Struass' Zueignung which must be one of the most beautiful sweeping melodies in the entire classical repertoire. Best wishes for a sell-out season.
ReplyDeleteJust watched the whole video. You have an amazing voice, creativity and you really connect to the music and the story. Very witty. You and Peter are definitely made for each other. Both so talented and creative.
