Cathy Models the Harem Girl Outfit!
How lucky I am that after Hurricane Sandy destroyed my Halloween plans (along with a few New York City neighborhoods), my dear cousin Cathy offered to model my costume, so that you, dear readers, would get to see it and I wouldn't have to shave my legs.
We had a beautiful Autumn day for our photo shoot -- a surprise since the weather has been so wild and unpredictable of late. Speaking of Cathy, motherhood is having a very positive effect on her: she showed up on time, seems to have quit smoking (though she chews gum incessantly), and even turned off her cell phone, beeper, and iPod during the shoot. She also showed me a few adorable shots of baby Simplicity which, remind me, I must share with you soon.
And now on with the show! I hope you'll enjoy our latest effort, shot by Michael as well as a few strangers who, fortunately, didn't run off with my camera.
As always, to see these photos full-size, please click any image and, in Picasa, choose the album name, and then, in the upper left hand corner, "Slideshow."
I think Cathy makes a very attractive vintage Forties-style harem girl, don't you? Who knows -- she may end up being the next Maria Montez!
Have a great day, everybody!
Great photo shoot! She looks fabulous and those shoes are really great.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Really beautiful. And boy, do I miss New York.
ReplyDeleteCathy's turban is better than anything I've ever had on my head ever.
ReplyDeleteFAAAABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteThe strands of beads make all the difference...You look TERRRIFFFIC!!!
Perfect! And gorgeous!! I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Stunning! Pitch perfect.
ReplyDeleteDivine, as usual.
ReplyDeleteThat's totally awesome. I just LOVE cathy's photo shoots, you've really taken the cake with this one though! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou and Michael are freakin' adorable.
ReplyDeleteThat Made. My. Day. And it hasn't even been a bad day.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! How *did* you attach all the beads, anyway?
ReplyDeleteSafety pins!
DeleteCathy looked fabulous and Michael looked absolutely adorable. Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteYou guys:))) LOOOL ur both fabulous love it
ReplyDeleteHow very beautiful and creative a photo shoot!
ReplyDeleteIt's very glorious--and I bet it's even more stunning with all the beads in motion. A costume made for shimmying!!!
ReplyDeleteCathy looks AMAZING!!! Genie-licious girl!
ReplyDeleteI am having such a hissy that I wasn't there to see it live - and to stop into Billy's Bakery with you all - LOL! Better yet, into East of Eighth for an aperitif.
Those old ladies in front of Ray's Pizza look entranced - did Cathy stop to chat with them?
What fun!
Cathy OWNS NYC!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favourite outfit of Cathy's of all time!! She rocks it!!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! I hope all your work and this beautiful costume aren't for naught; maybe a harem themed cocktail party is in your near future.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! You really *get* glamour, and Cathy looks so exotic and alluring in the harem outfit.
ReplyDeleteBest use of a tassel since Scarlett O'Hara's drapes dress! Cathy is looking fantastic post-baby.
ReplyDeleteThe first picture of the post and the other one in the same place are my favorites! I love the color combination of the costume! Congratulations Cathy, Peter and Michael!
ReplyDeleteCathy and Michael both look amazing! Nice job, Peter!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying.... dying.... The reaction shots of New Yorkers.... those old ladies... wheeze laughing.... Please let Cathy know that she gleamed like a genie's bottle and sparkled as brightly as a Persian star. What a costume, what a photoshoot, what a Peter.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a photo of Cathy and Peter together.
ReplyDeleteCathy looks fab! I'm sorry you didn't get to wear it on Halloween like you had planned.
ReplyDeleteI must say at she's never looked prettier. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteAnd from the perspective of someome living in Cologne, Germany the perfect day. Because... 11/11 (11.11 a.m.) is the beginning of carnival, so all the costumes are out for this season (called "Session" here). ;-)
Wonderful costume! Do people still have New Year's Eve costume parties? That would be even better than Halloween.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it! The turban looks fabulous and I agree with the other commenters about the tassel - the perfect touch. I hope you get the occasion to wear it somewhere. Maybe a Mardi Gras party? Now seriously, did those old ladies stop and talk to Cathy or did they just stand there and stare?
ReplyDeleteI would move to New York just in the hopes of getting to see you and Cathy in person more.
ReplyDeleteLove the whole costume and of course the photo shoot is brilliant as always. Someone is going to sign you for a TV show someday!
That's really great! Thank's for all the joy you're bringing! There should be a smile-measurerer-detector thingy on computers so that I could send my big smile instead of this blabbering. Thank's to people like you there's magic in the world still. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between being sad you missed Hallowe'en and glad you were spared any Sandy misery - how scrumptious Miss Cathy is - gawd i love this blog!!!
ReplyDeleteSultry and alluring - perfect in every way. Cathy is such a brick, right ? Especially love the turban........
ReplyDeleteLove it! So glad you finished it and Cathy was gracious enough to model for you.
ReplyDeleteThe pastel color palette is just fabulous!
Love it! You did a fantastic job.I like the heels with the gather pant legs more than I though I would. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThis looks amaaaaaaaaazing! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteCathy looks gorgeous!! You should be a costume designer!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo shoot too. I love the look on that lady's face as you are passing !
Sorry to be such a dolt. I have questions though. You are "Cathy" right? Why the references to having a baby and drinking and smoking?
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
why would you have to shave your legs? you could be a hairy "woman" it works for the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - no Cathy is his cousin - female - he is her cousin (funny how that works out eh? LOL) male
it can be confusing but that adds to the fun ;)
Hmm..the person in the harem costume is a male based on the adam's apple.
DeleteAbsolutely everything is absolutely amazing!
