Meet the Bloggettes!
Yesterday I was thrilled to have lunch with those scribbling-and-sewing sweethearts, the Bloggettes!
Meet Taffy!
Marmalade!
Lycra!
And Chicklet!
Aren't they adorable, folks? And they all have great clothes they've sewn themselves and blogged about!
Originally planned as a pow wow to strategize blogosphere domination, our afternoon together ended up being so much more.
First, we had a delicious lunch at Crisp @ 110 West 40th St. Fabulous falafel, highly recommended!
Then we shopped -- work that hat, Lycra!
Then we posed:
-- again and again and again (was I not born for this fabric?).
After only a few hours, it was as if the Bloggettes and I had known each other all our lives, as we finished each other's sentences and shared our deepest, darkest secrets. What is it about blogging about sewing that erases all boundaries in an instant? It couldn't be healthy.
Anyway, being the tightwad disciplined shopper I am, I resisted the yards upon yards of fabric at Paron's, Metro Textiles, and Spandex House. As for the Bloggettes, well, I'm sure they'll be blogging about their purchases shortly.
My take for the day:
You didn't actually think I'd buy fabric, did you -- and ruin my reputation?
Oh, before I forget, you'll be happy to know that I wore my new shirt -- AND stayed within my "new look" palette (Cathy's work wasn't in vain).
You may have noticed earlier that my shirt isn't quite....complete.
Who really needs cuffs, buttons, buttonholes, or a rolled hem? It's still a shirt, isn't it?
The Bloggettes were thrilled to see this ripped-from-the-headlines garment in person and asked specifically to see the few stubborn stain remnants visible on the shirt itself. Specimens were sent to the lab with results due back shortly.
As for the beautiful Bloggettes, you'll be hearing more about them for sure. These women are formidable: they can sew, they can shop, and they can write about it.
Visit their blogs today (just click their names). Tell them "Sequins" sent you!
It takes a bold sewer to wear a WIP, and you are just the one to do it! Indeed, who does need buttonholes, etc.?! And way, to be disciplined. Looks like y'all had a great time!
ReplyDeleteAw! What a cute bunch. Makes me wish there were, oh, ANY other sewing bloggers in RI.
ReplyDeleteOh, WOW! LOVE the Bloggettes! And love all the blogging too. Keep it up everybody. This is probably the closest I will get to NYC now. Haven't been since 1983. hehehehe I really appreciate your efforts!!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! Wow... I am SO very pregnant, no wonder people think I'm about to give birth at any moment. But no, two and a half months to go...
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful group! And you bought pins!!
ReplyDeletePatti
Taffy, that's the same thing the Octomom said...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab bunch - you look like you all had a great time! But who doesn't have fun shopping for fabric?
ReplyDeleteI love your attitude about your shirt. Who needs all those things.
ReplyDeleteKate
Great post. How I would love to be a sewist in NY! Now I have some new blogs to check out...
ReplyDeletePeter, I am so impressed with your self-control! Just three items after three fabric stores? Even faced with red sequins!? Simply. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a great time with the lovely Bloggettes and I think the shirt looks fantastic, even sans buttons, buttonholes, cuffs and hem. Only you, Peter :)
Being a vegan I am usually sad by the time I read the food part of these wonderful sewing-bloggy-awesome meet-ups happen but you guys ate something I could eat!
ReplyDeleteI love you.
Looks like you had a great time. I'm so envious that you all have sewing buddies close by.
ReplyDeletePeter, thank you so much for wishing me a happy birthday. That was so sweet of you.
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks you all had a wonderful time.
He he he - naturally I would be hamming it up in my photo. What a fun day! I was sorry to have to go back to the office.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Tricia (aka Chicklet, aka Clio... I really need to consolidate my aliases)
PS - Wow! I really am a terrible photographer, aren't I!?!?! People with eyes closed, blurry... I hope your readers recognize that you are not responsible for the dubious quality of some of those shots! (Sorry to my fellow Bloggettes!)
ReplyDeleteAs long as MY eyes are open, you're OK by me, Chicklet.
ReplyDeleteFun times... Can I ask how I ended up with the moniker of marmalade? Not that I'm complaining.
ReplyDeleteI used a very sophisticated logarithm, Elizabeth; can't explain it here.
ReplyDeleteLet's just say you're sweet and refreshingly tart!
I had a blast! And now everyone knows why I whine about taking pictures so much. I am NOT photogenic, lol.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny!! Looks like everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun blogger date! Jealous!
